Can you believe we’ve now had TEN volumes of 10 Beautiful Things? I started this writing practice at the beginning of Lent as a discipline of gratitude, but even after the short season for which I intended it, I am eager to continue on each week. I’m grateful for all the kind messages and positive feedback I’ve received so far on this series – especially when you recount the things you’re finding beautiful in your life, too!
When cherries are in season.
Phone calls that start with: “It’s so good to hear your voice.”
A strange thing to call beautiful, but: strength training has been a real grace to me in the past year, especially as a person who tends to spiral, forget to breathe, and dissociate when anxious. Taking 30-minute strength classes from MadFit a few days each week has become a lifeline for staying grounded in my body, especially when life and scheduling picks up the pace (and chaos level).
Golden hour on the backroads in Virginia. 🥲
I can start to smell honeysuckle in the air!
A spontaneous drop-by to our old house, which is now occupied by dear friends. I was thrilled to see such a familiar space to us totally reimagined with my friend’s great eye for design and decor!
I got coffee with Kaitlyn Schiess (an old friend from 10+ years ago!) when she was in town for a speaking engagement, and we had a wonderful chat about vocation, PhDs, the unique relational complexities that a military kid upbringing cultivates, and more. Follow her work – she is the best!
My parents’ rose bush in extravagant bloom this week.
Thrift treasures.
Open doors for the approaching future!
What’s something beautiful you found this week?
Holding my SIXTH grandchild who is the third grandSON--and my daughter's first baby. There are no words for this sweetness--except that it's a beautiful thing
