Good morning!
This is 10 Beautiful Things, a weekly missive where I’ll share ten things I’ve found beautiful, online or off. I hope to share some beauty with you, and encourage you to find (and share!) some beautiful things of your own.
This moment when my husband saw a dehydrated bumblebee languishing in the sun and spoon fed it sugar water until it was able to fly again.
Jess Ray’s MATIN: Rest album has been a comfort to me recently, and I’m particularly loving her song Suscipe.
A good, old fashioned pool party.
Friends who have taught me that a good plan is an act of love and hospitality.
Total rest days (made complete with marathoning the Star Wars trilogy and prequels).
Front yard views of a ridiculously well-planned garden. It seems like every time I look, something new is blooming! This week it’s coneflowers, phlox, and a fiery red variety of lily. I feel as if I’ve moved into a botanic garden.
A great coffee shop playlist.
Michael D. O’Brien’s beautiful letter to artists and writers. (O’Brien is a new author to me this year – recommended by my friend Bill!)
He is a true Father. This means you must go step by step, hand in hand with him, even when you can’t feel his hand, asking for each day’s graces, and for the specific graces needed for each of your works. Allow him to expand your heart. Allow him to create with the material of your life. Allow him to make of you more than you think you are.
Two dear friends are in town this week, and we’ve been doing what the three of us really love to do: visiting all the best coffee shops, reading in silence, working on projects together, and talking, talking, talking.
The feeling of turning a corner, in circumstances and in my inner life. And I am! The beginning of July is our halfway point through the summer, with two months left of life as we know it in the U.S. before we voyage to Scotland in early September. It’s starting to become less terrifying and more exciting.
What’s something beautiful you found this week?
Love your beautiful lists!
