Good morning!
This is 10 Beautiful Things, where on every Tuesday morning, I’ll share ten things I’ve found beautiful this week, online or off. In sharing them, I hope to share some beauty with you, and encourage you to find (and share!) some beautiful things of your own.
Spring tree petals flying through the air on a drive. Free treasure!
I’ve never been a country music listener, but I make a singular exception for Kacey Musgraves – I listen to her music a lot when I’m in times of transition. This one and this one are on repeat recently for me.
Getting to take a bath after a busy day. (Side note: lately I’ve been finding that I can do my most focused, undistracted reading here?)
I am feasting on green this week as Virginia officially bids winter farewell.
Seeing churches in my area say yes to the arts! I attended a reading/retelling of the Sermon on the Mount at Church of the Resurrection last week. It was beautiful to hear Jesus’ words as the singular sermon they are instead of reading the words on a page.
Trying my hand at some slightly prettier scoring designs on my sourdough this week.
This week I’ve been complaining about a very specific DC gripe: trying to drive anywhere near DC during Peak Weekend, or when the cherry blossoms finally burst into splendid pale bloom around the Tidal Basin. Upon reflection, I have to walk back my griping. Even though I hate sitting in traffic, there is something beautiful about hundreds of Virginians flocking together to our Local Beautiful Thing.
Jake decided to shed his “I’m bad at baking” claim this week, learned how to make blondies (my favorite), and we discovered that he is, in fact, not bad at baking.
Big luminous skies after sunny days.
Dinner out on the porch with a friend, right before a rainstorm.
What’s something beautiful you found this week?
Loved number 8 on your list this week! One beautiful thing from my week: the finality of the anti-trafficking conference coming together on Sunday after six months of hard labor! Not only did people learn SO MUCH about this issue, but the Lord's name was also thoroughly glorified through it all and my team and I were once reminded that Christ is at the center of the solution to this issue! It was beautiful, encouraging, and oh so joyous!
I am not someone who usually comments, but I just wanted you to know I love your 10 beautiful things. I love that you look for beauty and are rafting lists to share with us. Our mundane lives are so much more if we just pay attention to the details that surround us. Your lists make me smile every time! Thank you!
