10 Beautiful Things, vol. 44
Rest, Lent, orange, spring
Good morning!
This is 10 Beautiful Things, a weekly missive about the search for beauty in ordinary life. Here you’ll find ten things I’ve found beautiful, online or off. I hope to share some beauty with you, and encourage you to find (and share!) some beautiful things of your own.
I saw a group of students throwing a frisbee around by the library – a welcome sight after how rainy and dreary February has been! We are collectively kicking February blues to the curb.
One of the best lattes I’ve tasted in town yet (at Five Acres, served in a real mug).
Bright orange front doors at the end of Market Street, looking positively electric in the sun.
Our dishwasher door fully broke this week, and a friend came over to say hi while I was thousand-yard-staring at a mountain of dishes that needed to be washed by hand. My friend washed that whole mountain of dishes for me, reader, and I dried and put them away, and the entire ordeal was taken care of in twenty minutes. Not all heroes wear capes.
This garden view, snapped on a short run:
Twinings chamomile and orange tea.
How Jake really makes me laugh harder than anyone – and this has probably become more true since we’ve been married. There are so many little things about the qualities of married life that I couldn’t have known beforehand, when we were dating and everything felt so uncertain, that I have just been delighted by as we travel through life together now.
A Sunday of doing no work, eating food we did not cook and playing games with friends, feeling completely contented and rested. (It’s almost like we’re supposed to take a rest day once per week…)
This post on Lent and embracing friction from Plough. Medicinal writing about an often-overlooked side of the state of our culture and how we can choose a better way.
Catching up with my sister-in-law on the phone while walking outside in 50 degree weather! (Yes, I’m still using Fahrenheit. 😊)
What’s something beautiful you found this week?

The sneak peak of spring this week has been such a relief! Love to see it through your eyes
my favorite weekly missive 🕊️ thank you for the portion of beauty
