10 Beautiful Things, vol. 52
~
Good morning!
This is 10 Beautiful Things, a weekly missive about the search for beauty in ordinary life. Here you’ll find ten things I’ve found beautiful, online or off. I hope to share some beauty with you, and encourage you to find (and share!) some beautiful things of your own.
I am, as of yesterday, the proud owner of a Crail Pottery mug:
I’ve been reading The Brothers Karamazov slowly this year – my first time reading Russian literature ever! – and I’m really enjoying it, and feeling pleased with my growing ability to read and retain classic literature after many years out of practice. It can be done! (And so many Substack friends have graciously inspired this return to classic literature. If this is your jam, or you want it to be, I highly recommend my friend Melody’s Substack!)
Hans us von Balthasar’s The Glory of the Lord: A Theological Aesthetics, which is saying the things I wish all the art and faith books would say.
Bluebells in full swing on the coastal path.
Lunchtime laughter at Scriptorium.
Stood in this sliver of light during my work shift.
Tiny mercies in an otherwise exhausting day, like being fed a yummy dinner at an evening event and offered a lift home.
Lilacs are finally starting to bloom here!
Slowly getting to know the children in our church community.
A hamburger from Saint Sizzle in St Andrews when really, really hungry.
What’s something beautiful you found this week?
