10 Beautiful Things, vol. 53
~
Good morning!
This is 10 Beautiful Things, a weekly missive about the search for beauty in ordinary life. Here you’ll find ten things I’ve found beautiful, online or off. I hope to share some beauty with you, and encourage you to find (and share!) some beautiful things of your own.
Starry sourdough:
Having an old friend in town to visit.
Former professors who are interested in my academic journey and are still happy to keep up with what I’m up to.
Jannetta’s vegan chocolate gelato.
Getting to introduce old friends to new friends.
A vivid sunset glow caught at the end of a dinner party (at 9pm, too – Scottish summer is coming, slowly but surely!)
Peonies are available at our grocery store starting this week! I may have to get some for my kitchen…
One of the neighborhood cats paid us a visit on our balcony:
I still feel what seems equivalent to a runner’s high every time I’m on a long hike. And we’ve gotten to hike so much recently!
Saving the best for last: Last week I found out that I passed my probationary review, the first major hurdle of my PhD at St Andrews. I’m looking forward to the next few years of writing my thesis with anticipation and joy. I’m so grateful that I get to do this!
What’s something beautiful you found this week?

#4 formal request that our inaugural friendship hangout be at Janetta's!
